Summary
Our
Lady of Peace School, under the direction of the Diocese of
Charleston, was founded in 1956. The school is a fully
accredited, multi-cultural, Christian-based school serving Grades
K3–8 with before- and after-care available. All religions
and races are welcome. The school is located in North Augusta,
South Carolina.
Curriculum
The
school curriculum includes religion, language arts (reading,
English, spelling, penmanship, phonics, writing, grammar,
literature), mathematics, science, social studies (geography,
history, sociology, and economics), computers, library skills,
physical education, and Spanish.

Mission
and Program
The
mission of Our Lady of Peace School is to provide a comprehensive
educational program for the complete development of its students in
a Christian environment. We help students grow towards
maturity in faith and prepare them for life-long learning.
Consequently, there are four areas that we stress in developing the
“whole child”: spiritual, educational, physical, and
social.
Spiritually,
students are challenged to put their faith into action.
Sharing of their time, talent, and treasure prepares our students
for a lifetime of service to the Church and community. Through
our Christian environment, we will provide a safe, caring, loving,
and prayerful school community where staff, students, and parents
share in the Christian vision, and faith is a part of our everyday
culture.
Educationally,
Our Lady of Peace School is among the best schools in the area when
it comes to standardized testing scores. Our students
consistently score above grade and age equivalency level. Our
academic success is also evident in the number of 7th
graders who qualify for the Duke University Talent Identification
Program, the number of graduates who are on the honor roll at local
high schools, and the number of trophies won by our “Math
Counts” team.

Tutoring by volunteers
Physically,
we strive to help your child to become an active, happy adult.
The students learn conditioning and activities that they can use for
a lifetime. Our school participates in the CSRA Middle School
League in sports, including soccer, volleyball, cross-country,
basketball, and cheerleading.
Socially,
we teach our students how to behave in social settings. We
have scheduled dances, holiday celebrations, and field trips.
Our biannual trip to Washington, DC is the highlight of their 7th
and 8th grade year. The students also participate
as animators, lectors, and singers at Friday morning Mass, which
develops their public speaking skills. Good manners and good
behavior are more than taught at Our Lady of Peace School, they are
expected.
Our
Lady of Peace School, when last accredited by the Diocese of
Charleston in 1999, set the standard by which all diocesan schools
would be measured under the Verifying the Vision Program. Our
school is sound financially, and we are staffed with qualified
teachers.
For
an additional fee, before- and after-care are available. We
also have a very active Parent Teacher Organization, School Board,
and Booster Club. The high level of parent involvement helps
make our school even greater.
In
short, Our Lady of Peace School is the place to be!
Registration
(click for more information) for the next school year is taken on a
space-available basis. The registration fee is nonrefundable.
Our class sizes are limited to ensure a low student-to-teacher
ratio, so early registration is recommended. A birth
certificate and record of immunization are required.
To ensure
the success of your child, children who apply for admission to Our
Lady of Peace School are screened to assess readiness for the
academic program. Placement is not considered final until
testing and initial observation are complete and previous school
records are obtained. Parents are expected to support the
philosophy of the school.
A
multiple child discount is available. Subsidies and
financial aid are also available for active parishioners of Our Lady
of Peace Catholic Church and St. Edward’s Catholic Church.
School lunch is provided under the Federal School Lunch Program.
Hot lunches are served daily, at a nominal fee.
We
hope you will give us the opportunity to join you in educating your
child both academically and spiritually.
If
you have any questions or if you would like to visit the school,
